Dirigible Plums are orange radish-like fruits that grow upside-down on bushes in the Harry Potter Universe. They are said, by the brilliantly sweet and dingy Lovegoods, to increase the wearers ability to accept the extraordinary.

WARNING: Do not wear these while watching late night muggle infomercials, or whilst listening to political campaign promises.

In the Order of the Phoenix, when we first meet Luna Lovegood, she is wearing a pair of Dirigible Plum earrings. In the book, they are actual Dirigible Plums, but in the movie they are beaded earrings made by the actress that plays Luna Lovegood.

Most Dirigible Plum earrings being sold online are red and often poorly made. When they are beaded they are often flat representations akin to those seen in the movie, or they are strung on loosely coiled wire and prone to losing their shape.

These earrings are beaded securely around a solid core in a pattern graduating in color from orange to clear/white. They are adorned with a set of leaves and hung on silver hooks.

My personal earrings that I wear have the leaves clustered together and also hang upside-down since that is how the Dirigible Plum grows in the books. But since your earrings will be made to order you may specify if you would like the leaves clustered or on separate sides, and also if you would like them hanging in the standard manner as pictured above or “naturally” as I wear mine.
